Athenian Tetradrachm Bronze Desk Presse Papier - Paperweight - Goddess Athena

This paperweight is based on the Athenian Tetradrachm coin. Athena, daughter of Zeus, was the goddess of intelligence, wisdom, resourcefulness and strategic thought. She was also the protectress of women, female crafts, the poetic symbol of reason and purity. The owl was the symbol for Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategy. According to myth, an owl sat on Athena's blind side, so that she could see the whole truth. In Ancient Greece, the owl was a symbol of a higher wisdom, and it was also a guardian of the Acropolis.  

All our bronze items, are cast in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method. As nothing is mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and coloring. Each piece is, therefore, unique.
